Hi I’m Nicole and welcome to Makeup By Nicole!
I am a self employed freelance makeup artist, my salon is located in Ballina Co Mayo and I also offer call outs across County Mayo
How it began
My interest in makeup and beauty began in my teenage years. I remember watching youtube tutorials and reading blogposts on beauty regularly, constantly trying to improve my skills.
Looking back, I do think this benefits me in my business today as the knowledge I gained is still relevant today. My favourite example is the 2016 makeup eye tutorials and the importance of an eyeshadow primer - I still use en eye primer today on all clients, its especially important on clients with oily skin/ oily eyelids.
My Qualifications
Award Winning self employed makeup artist.
I am ITEC qualified, CRO registered and insured.My qualifications include:
-ITEC qualification in Makeup Artistry
-ITEC qualified Indian Head Massage
-NSI qualified in Eye Trio
-NSI qualified in Spray Tanning
-Barbicide Hygiene certifiedI am also an IPU qualified Pharmacy Technician - This qualification enables me to understand clients skin, medications, ingredients and the associations each aspect has on makeup application, technique and longevity.
Upskilling
I love upskilling and expanding my knowledge and skillset. I upskill twice per year with makeup artist I look up to in Ireland and online. Online masterclasses are so inspiring, I regularly complete them as part of Pro artist programmes including Vieve and Charlotte Tilbury2026 - I am upskilling with Elaine Connolly MUA & Jade Spillane Mua2025 - Naomi Mullen MUA & NME BEAUTYPreviously - Hayley Coleman Makeup & Benefit Cosmetics
Beauty Industry Experience
I am so grateful that my business has led to me some amazing opportunities!
I am an Ella and Jo Glow Pro, Kash Beauty MUA and have worked alongside incredible Irish brands Hildun Beauty & SoSu Cosmetics ahead of new release launches.
I have recently worked alongside Athru By Aoife on a photoshoot showcasing her new dress launches for athrubyaoife.ie
I have also held a makeup masterclass for the 2026 Lady Of the Moy contestants ahead of the Ballina Salmon Festival 2026
